Eurodeputowani zwracają uwagę, że tego typu wystawa stanowi naruszenie kodeksu właściwego zachowania się posłów do Parlamentu Europejskiego przy wykonywaniu swoich obowiązków (załącznik nr II do Regulaminu), który stanowi, że „Wykonując swoje obowiązki, posłowie do Parlamentu Europejskiego będą zachowywać się wobec wszystkich osób pracujących w Parlamencie Europejskim z godnością, uprzejmością i szacunkiem oraz bez uprzedzeń i dyskryminacji”. W ocenie liderów EKR prezentacja takiej wystawy wyczerpuje znamiona naruszenia ww. przepisu.

„Chrześcijanie są obecnie najbardziej prześladowaną mniejszością religijną na świecie. Żałujmy, że Pani Przewodnicząca nie sprzeciwia się wystawie, która jest prezentowana w gmachu naszego Parlamentu. Wzywamy do jej zamknięcia i jednoznacznego opowiedzenia się przeciwko wszelkim formom znieważania jakiejkolwiek religii” - apelują w liście eurodeputowani.

"Dear President Metsola,

We would like to draw your attention to the fact that under your watch, a photographic exhibition opened by one of the MEPs from The Left has been on display for several days at the Parliament's premises in Brussels. In our opinion as Christians, as well as that of the people we represent, some of the photographs presented are intended to offend the religious feelings of Christians. The photographs are derogatory to our faith. They cause embarrassment and sadness with their deliberate hatred. Some of them may also make mischief among underage visitors to the Parliament premises.

We would like to draw your attention to the content of the Code of appropriate behaviour for Members of the European Parliament in exercising their duties (Annex II to the Rules of Procedure). In the first point, it indicates the following. “In exercising their duties, Members of the European Parliament will behave towards everyone working in the European Parliament with dignity, courtesy and respect and without prejudice or discrimination”. In our opinion, the presentation of such an exhibition exhausts the elements of a breach of the aforementioned provision.

Christians are currently the most persecuted of the religious minorities in the world. We regret that Madam President does not object to such a display as is presented in the building of our Parliament. We urge you to put an end to this exhibition and speak out unequivocally against any form of insult to any religion.
