Szczególnie mocno ostatni atak zimy odczuli mieszkańcy stanu Nowy Jork, gdzie w drugim co do wielkości mieście stanie Buffalo już spadło ponad 1,2 metra śniegu. Opady tam – czytamy – nadal nie ustają.

- Służby znajdowały ciała ludzi w zaspach śnieżnych oraz samochodach. Część osób zmarła na serce z powodu stresu i wysiłku związanego z zamieciami śnieżnymi – podaje portal polsatnews.pl.

Jak podała stacja NBC News, na chwilę obecną bilans nagłego ataku zimy w całych Stanach Zjednoczonych to 60 osób zmarłych.

Media informują o trwającym nadal paraliżu komunikacyjnym oraz odwołaniu tysięcy lotów.

- Według National Weather Service w poniedziałek rano na lotnisku w Buffalo spadło prawie 1,27 metra śniegu – czytamy.

W związku z tragiczną sytuacją prezydent USA Joe Biden zdecydował w poniedziałek o skierowaniu do pomocy Gwardii Narodowej, której żołnierze m.in. pomagają osobom uwięzionym w samochodach oraz dostarczają żywność uwięzionym w domach.

- "Moje serce jest z tymi, którzy stracili bliskich w ten świąteczny weekend. Jesteście w modlitwach moich i Jill" - napisał na Twitterze Biden.
